Weekly Workout Totals 01/26-2009-02/01/2009

But first, the results of my Pirate Personality Test:

You are The Cap'n!

Some men and women are born great, some achieve greatness and some slit the throats of any scalawag who stands between them and unlimited power. You never met a man - or woman - you couldn't eviscerate. You are the definitive Man of Action, the CEO of the Seven Seas, Lee Iacocca in a blousy shirt and drawstring-fly pants. You're mission-oriented, and if anyone gets in the way, that's his problem, now isn't? Your buckle was swashed long ago and you have never been so sure of anything as your ability to bend everyone to your will. You will call anyone out and cut off his head if he shows any sign of taking you on or backing down. If one of your lieutenants shows an overly developed sense of ambition he may find more suitable accommodations in Davy Jones' locker. That is, of course, IF you notice him. You tend to be self absorbed - a weakness that may keep you from seeing enemies where they are and imagining them where they are not.

And now back to our regularly scheduled blogging...
I came down with a virus last week. I could feel it on Thursday, and Friday morning I woke up and went "Nope." I was down for the count all day Friday and most of Saturday, but I came around Sunday and ran almost 11 miles (slowly, Zone 1). I hated being in bed for so long, even though I did sleep a ton, but it was the right thing to do. I usually come down with something in late January/early February, so this wasn't unexpected. I am mostly better, and I can tell because the lymph glands on the left side of my neck have almost vanished. I know I needed sleep, and maybe this will remind my body that I should actually try and sleep more. One can always try!

So I guess I got a rest week last week--enforced rest! I took things easy yesterday, and today I will see if I can punch it on the bike or not. Either way, I know I'll be good to go for the weekend and another race, especially since I'll have a target on my back!

It's nice to notice the days getting longer and occasional appearances by the sun. Only one more month until March, the month where the weather can be pretty much anything where I live, but the chances of being able to bike outdoors are increased, so that's good. Plus, March is when the first flowers in my yard will poke themselves out of the ground! Knocking out 2 more races in February will make it a good month, and I'm pretty optimistic about some other good things happening in my life, too.

Overall, I have no complaints, and while being sick sucked, that moment when I know I'm back to 120% (my back seems to be 100%!!!) is a great feeling, too. It's like...you want to feel good, you want to feel good, you want to feel good...and then all of a sudden, you do! There aren't many feelings like that in life, huh?
