It was hot. It was humid. It was foggy. And then it was bright sunshine.
1/2 marathon: 2:14 and change, went really easy, felt like an easy (easier than my usual) training run.
Marathon: 4:31 and change. 4 minutes slower than last year, nowhere near my BQ time of 4:05. Did I say hot, humid, foggy and then hot and sunny?
But in general I feel good about my performance. Not too far off last year in much worse conditions. I know I can BQ if I "just" run a marathon and hit decent weather, but I am in no hurry to do it.
When I woke up this morning, I felt a little out of place--I wasn't within 5 miles of the Magic Kingdom!
My legs are coming around. I lifted weights yesterday (no legs), and that went well. I swam today, but cut it short at 1300 yards (planned=1500), since my quads were pinging me when I pushed off the wall. Massage tonight!
Knees are fine, calves are fine--nothing went truly mechanically wrong--but I am going to lose 2 toenails, and I got 3 blisters on my right foot, one of which is a blood blister that I guess I should pop. The other 2 are already mostly flattened out. And I'm still pretty hungry, even though I'm not doing anything.
More to come once I get it all down on paper. It was not quite as fun as last year, but still I'm glad I did it. I have zero concerns about Desoto Triple T. I mean come on, you only run marathon distance over THREE DAYS!
Favorite sign (sponsored by Sharpie) I saw on the marathon course: "If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you."
Peace out!
